Born to Narrate: Bruce Springsteen Has Recorded the Audiobook Version of His Memoir, “Born to Run”

Simon & SchusterMany Bruce Springsteen fans have read his recently published memoir, Born to Run, but you’ll soon be able to hear the Boss himself read the book. The audio edition of Born to Run, featuring narration recorded by the New Jersey rock legend, will be released on Tuesday, December 6.

Springsteen recorded the 18-hour-long audiobook at his home studio in New Jersey, and also added some original musical transition segments to the project. In addition, the recording features snippets from the studio versions of his songs “Living Proof,” “Long Time Comin'” and “Born to Run.”

“As a lifelong Bruce Springsteen fan, I’ve spent countless hours listening to him tell stories of the most unforgettable characters in rock and roll,” says Simon & Schuster Audio President Chris Lynch in a statement. “To now hear Bruce tell his own intimate story with the same charisma and force that he brings to his performances is simply magic.”

The print and e-book editions of Born to Run were published on September 27. The memoir spent two weeks at the top of The New York Times‘ Best Sellers list for Hardcover Nonfiction books, and currently is #4 on the tally.
