Buffalo National River announces winter hours and facility closings

     Park Staff for the Buffalo National River recently winterized the park’s facilities. “With cold weather approaching, water systems and restrooms have been winterized to prevent freezing and broken pipes.” said Superintendent Kevin Cheri. Weather permitting, the water systems will resume operation in mid-March.

     Camping and day areas throughout the park remain open. However, the water systems have been turned off. Vault toilets will still be accessible.

     The restrooms and shower houses in the drive-in campground at Tyler Bend will remain open through the winter. However, the walk-in and group camping loops will be closed. Tyler Bend Visitor Center is open daily (excluding holidays) from 8:30-4:30. Restrooms are available at the visitor center.

     At Buffalo Point,the day use areas and the “B” loop of Buffalo Point Campground are open with vault toilets only. All other campground loops at Buffalo Point Campground are closed for winter. The Buffalo Point Visitor Contact Station will be open Friday-Monday from8:30-4:30. The Steel Creek Visitor Contact Station will be open Friday-Saturday 8:30-4:30.
