Calico Rock Museum seeks donations for expansion

The Calico Rock Museum and Visitor Center is seeking community support to help expand in order to accommodate more exhibits.

When the museum opened in 2008, it was in one room of the Visitor Center, but through the support from the community, it has grown into a separate building where it has welcomed over 115,00 visitors from around the United States and several foreign countries.

Recently, the museum board took steps to buy the historic Floyd’s Grocery building, across the street from the parent museum with expansion plans to become an art and science museum.

Calico Rock Museum and Visitor Center is in the process of applying for most of the $50,000 they need to buy and renovate the building. However, the community can help though donations. A $24 donation will pay for lights for individual galleries or a bucket of paint. Donations will show grant-makers how much the community supports the museum. Donations are tax deductible and can be made in person or online at http://www.calicorockmuseum.com/. Large donations are always appreciated and pledges may be paid over a three-year period. To learn more, you can contact the museum at 870-297-6100.
