Catch Sting Receiving Prestigious Honor & Performing on the American Music Awards Tonight

ABCJust a reminder that Sting will receive a special honor and will be one performers at this year’s American Music Awards, which airs tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.

The former Police frontman will be presented with the American Music Award of Merit in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the music industry. Sting also will hit the stage to play a medley of songs, including his latest single, “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You,” and some of his best-known tunes. This will mark his first-ever performance on the American Music Awards.

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band and Madonna are among the few veteran artists who will vie for honors at the 2016 American Music Awards. The New Jersey rockers and the dance-pop diva have been nominated in the Tour of the Year category, along with Beyoncé.

In addition, the late Prince‘s classic 1984 album Purple Rain is up for the Top Soundtrack prize. Also receiving nods for that award are two more recent releases, the Star Wars: The Force Awakens soundtrack and Suicide Squad: The Album, the latter of which includes classic songs by Creedence Clearwater Revival and War, as well as new tunes by various contemporary artists.
