The River Rock Inn in Mountain home will host a chronic wasting disease workshop Thursday evening at 6.
Chronic wasting disease is a neurological disease that affects animals such as deer, elk and moose. Officials say that deer and elk have tested positive for the fatal disease in Arkansas.
Featured speaker Ralph Meeker, Assistant Deer Biologist with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will discuss whether chronic wasting disease can affect humans or livestock, how to limit the spread of the disease, how to properly dispose of remains.
Meeker will also answer questions regarding baiting, feeding, salt and mineral licks.
