Coats for Kids drive a huge success

The annual Coats for Kids drive at KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot was a tremendous success this year thanks to the giving community of the Twin Lakes Area. The event, sponsored by Jiffy Laundry and Dry Cleaning and Methvin Sanitation, produced approximately 350 Coats, knitted caps and headbands to give to children in need across the local public school system.

The handwoven knitted caps and headbands were donated by two special ladies who dropped them off at the studios. The coats were both new and slightly used. The slightly used were generously cleaned by Jiffy Laundry and Dry Cleaning. All of the items are headed to Hackler Elementary where they will be handed out.

Superintendent of Mountain Home Public Schools, Dr. Jake Long, says the generous nature of the community is evident no matter the cause.

Goverment statistics show over 50 percent of students in Baxter County receive reduced or free lunches and breakfast, according to Long.

The staff at KTLO, Classic Hits and the Boot would also like to take the time to salute the community and our sponsors who exemplify the true spirit of Christmas.

Friday is the last day to drop off coats at KTLO studios, Jiffy Laundry and Dry Cleaning and Methvin Sanitation.
