Dave Davies Says Two New Albums and a Documentary Are “Coming Soon”

Credit: Rebecca G. WilsonDave Davies has been relatively quiet of late, but the founding Kinks guitarist has revealed that he’s got a number of interesting projects that are “coming soon.” In a post on his official website, Davies reports that he’s working on two new albums, one a collaborative project with his son Russ and the other a solo effort titled Islands.

The 69-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer also reveals that his long-in-the-works documentary Strangers also will be released soon. The film focuses on Dave’s return to touring and recording in recent years following the debilitating stroke he suffered in 2004. You can check out a trailer for the documentary at the DetuneTV YouTube channel.

In a recent interview with TheLongPlays.com, Davies discussed the album he and his son Russ are recording, which he says is a rock- and pop-oriented collection of tunes.

“I’m very excited about it,” Dave told the website. “We recorded at Russell’s studio and a lot over the Internet because the technology these days is great.”

Davies most recent album was the 2015 live effort Rippin’ Up New York City — Live at City Winery.
