Allen, a senior on Duke’s fifth-ranked squad, got himself tangled up with Elon’s Steven Santa Ana and kicked out his leg, tripping him. Allen was assessed a technical foul.

ESPN College Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman says that during the preseason, Allen seemed ready to take accountability for previous incidents.

Allen seemed to purposefully trip Louisville’s Ray Spalding on February 8 last season, and then did the same to Florida State’s Xavier Rathan-Mayes just 17 days later.

Allen appeared emotional on the Duke bench after the technical foul.

After the incident, Elon finished the first half on an 11-2 run.
