Gassville man faces drug charges, suspected of stealing music equipment

     A vehicle stop by the Mountain Home Police Department led to the arrest of a Baxter County man. According to Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manuel, 41-year-old Mitch Mitchell of Gassville is facing several charges, and he also faces holds from other agencies in Arkansas.

     Mitchell was stopped Wednesday morning when a K9 officer believed he spotted a ficticious license plate. The officer learned after the stop Mitchell was driving on a suspended driver’s license.

     Police searched the vehicle and found money totaling nearly $8,000, prescription pills, syringes, digital scales, guitars, an amplifier and marijuana. After investigators were notified, they learned the money, guitars and amplifier were possibly stolen from Mitchell’s father in Sharp County, and Sharp County authorities were notified.

     Mitchell is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver (Morphine), possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to deliver (Clonazepam), possession of a controlled substance (Marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, ficticious vehicle license and driving on a suspended driver’s license. Chief Manuel says Mitchell is also being held for felony warrants from Independence and Randolph Counties. He is currently in the Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $20,000.
