Gassville and Cotter mayors discuss ballot proposals for water and sewer needs

On the March ballot, citizens in Gassville and Cotter will be asked to approve measures to help fund water and sewer needs.

In Gassville, residents will see a proposal for a permanent half cent sales tax, while Cotter citizens will be asked for approval for the city to borrow funds to complete the project. The City of Gassville owns 66 percent of the project while the City of Cotter owns 34 percent.

Gassville Mayor Jeff Braim along with Cotter Mayor Mac Caradine spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News about the ballot measures.

Mayor Caradine wants to stress to residents the City of Cotter is not asking for an tax increase, but for an approval to borrow funds.

Early voting begins Feb. 20 at the First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home. Residents with questions should call their city’s City Hall. In Cotter, residents can call 870-435-6326 and in Gassville residents can call 870-435-6439.
