Gregg Allman Schedules New Series of Winter Concert in Southern US

Credit: Danny ClinchAs Gregg Allman prepares to launch his 10-show November residency this Sunday at the City Winery in New York City, the founding Allman Brothers Band frontman has announced a new series of winter tour dates in several Southern U.S. cities. The trek kicks off with a December 30-31 stand at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts in Savannah, Georgia, and is plotted out through a four-date engagement at The Grand Opera House in Gregg’s hometown of Macon, Georgia, that winds down on January 21.

The Grand Opera House is the same venue where last year’s Gregg Allman Live album was recorded in January of 2014. Allman’s itinerary also includes two-night stands in Athens, Georgia, and Birmingham, Alabama, as well as stops in a few other Southern cities.

Allman will be accompanied at all of the shows by a backing group that includes longtime Allman Brothers Band percussionist Marc Quinones, guitarist Scott Sharrard and a three-piece horn section.

Meanwhile, coinciding with Allman’s New York City concerts, an exhibit of photos of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer snapped by photographer Patricia O’Driscoll in recent years will open at the Morrison Hotel Gallery on Thursday, November 10. The pics will remain on display at the gallery until November 27.

In other news, Gregg has announced that his traveling Laid Back Festival, which was held at several venues this year, will return in 2017. Details about the upcoming edition of the fest will be revealed soon.
