A Henderson couple has been arrested after allegedly getting intoxicated, stealing a boat and grounding it ashore at Henderson Park.According to the probable cause affidavit, deputies were dispatched to the Henderson Marina regarding two individuals appearing to be intoxicated and having trouble walking.

Dispatch advised the caller stated the couple got into a boat and took off across the water and ended up grounding the boat ashore at Henderson Park next to the marina.

Upon arrival at the park deputies witnessed a boat matching the description the caller provided motoring away from where it was stuck. The boat was operated by a male later identified as 50-year-old Oval Glenn Haynes.

After the boat was pushed back into the water, Haynes allegedly turned around to help a female onto the boat. The female was later identified as 49-year-old Paula Renae Alexander.

After both parties returned to the boat a dock attendant from the Henderson Marina pulled the boat to shore where law enforcement was located.

Once the boat was pulled to shore, Haynes allegedly exited, walked up to law enforcement and stated “Stealing is stealing, I know.” Haynes allegedly smelled strongly of intoxicants and was holding a small bottle of liquor in his hand.

After detaining Haynes, Alexander was pulled safely off the boat and onto the shore. Alexander allegedly smelled strongly of intoxicants and had a hard time exiting the boat and walking.

A search was conducted of a bag Alexander was holding and it was found to contain a pocket bottle of liquor along with a metal grinder containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana.

Both Haynes and Alexander were placed under arrest without incident.

While still at the scene, authorities were approached by a male stating it was his boat the couple had stolen. The victim stated he was working on the boat and ran into Mountain Home to get some parts for the motor. He stated he had been gone approximately 30 minutes.

The victim removed the boat from the water and it was determined the boat had several abrasions, the back platform had gouge marks in it and the underneath of the vessel also sustained damage when it was run ashore. The victim estimates the damage to be between $4,000 and $5,000.

While checking the boat the victim found a life jacket and rope inside the boat, authorities believe the items came from the other two boats witnesses state they observed Haynes in prior to stealing the third.

Both Haynes and Alexander are charged with felony counts of breaking or entering, theft of property and criminal mischief in the first degree.

Alexander is also charged with posession of a controlled substance and public intoxication.

Bond is set at $15,000 each.
