Historic Howell County hotel destroyed by fire

A historic hotel in Howell County was destroyed by fire Saturday.   A spokesperson for the Pumpkin Center Fire Department says the five story, 48 room Pinebrook Inn located in Siloam Springs, was totally engulfed in flames when crews arrived shortly after 9 Saturday night.   The Pinebrook Inn, formally the Old Siloam Springs Hotel, was built in 1921 and was undergoing renovations by new owners.
Twenty firefighters from Pomona, Pottersville and the Howell County Rural Fire Department assisted the Pumpkin Center firefighters battle the blaze for four hours.   No one was injured in the fire which burned the historic wooden structure to the ground.   The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
