The Luther star took to Twitter to address the report from U.K. tabloid The Sun, which cited an unnamed source as saying that Elba and Madonna were locking lips during a party at a London restaurant after Elba’s first professional boxing match.
“Am I sleeping with Madonna? No m************… ,” the actor tweeted and added, “Don’t Believe the Hype,” which is also the title of a Public Enemy song.
According to The Sun‘s source, Elba and Madonna, “arrived together at around 3 a.m. and were all over each other. There was nothing subtle about it, no attempt to hide. It was very blatant.”
The pop legend also helped to fuel the rumors over the weekend when she attended Elba’s boxing match and posted a video of the actor while she watched ringside. “Idris Elba Smashes it at York Hall!” she wrote.
As previously reported, Elba is training to become a professional kickboxer as part of his upcoming Discovery documentary Idris Elba: Fighter.
Madonna had previously tapped Elba, who’s also a deejay, to open some of her European concerts for her last year.
