A Violet Hill mother and her two children were arrested Friday night after creating a disturbance at a high school homecoming basketball game. Izard County Sheriff Tate Lawrence says Kristen Lynn Hennigan is being held on $3,800 bond in the Izard County jail on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her minor son and daughter are being held in the juvenile detention facility in Batesville where they are both charged with disorderly conduct and the male is also charged with criminal mischief.

According to the sheriff, Hennigan complained to a deputy from his department that her daughter had been victimized at the school. The deputy says, although the school reported to have addressed the situation, Hennigan was not satisfied with their action. Later she and her angry children, seen talking to the school resource officer, were directed to the lobby of the building an later asked to leave due to their inappropriate behavior and threats directed toward another student. The family refused to comply with orders and continued to yell and obstruct the deputy’s actions and escalate the situation. When the confrontation became physical, the three were arrested with the struggle continuing outside the building. When the male juvenile was placed in the patrol car, he shattered a window and continued to yell threats and insults toward officers.

Sheriff Lawrence complimented his officers and the school staff for the restraint exercised during the disturbance.
