Jail booking reveals drugs inside suspect’s purse

What appeared to be a routine booking into the Marion County jail took a different path when a jailer conducting an inventory search discovered a substance with the appearance of broken glass in a suspect’s purse.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday, 36-year-old Elizabeth Waddell of Ashdown was being booked into the Marion County Detention Center June 9th. Waddell’s arrest followed a Flippin Police Department officer’s attempt to locate a male subject. Waddell was found at the man’s residence.

A check of the Arkansas Crime Information Center database showed the Ashdown woman had a probation violation warrant with a $200,000 bond out of Montgomery County, Texas. As the officer was taking Waddell into custody, she asked to grab her purse, and he consented.

During Waddell’s booking into the jail, the jailer discovered a small baggie containing a white crystal like substance inside a wallet in her purse.

She now faces three felony charges of possession of meth or cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and furnishing prohibited articles. Her bond was set at $2,500.
