The suspensions come as part of a Title IX investigation conducted by Minnesota University over reports of alleged sexual assault. The team announced the boycott after what they described as an unsatisfactory meeting with athletic director Marc Coyle regarding the suspensions.

Defensive back Ray Buford Jr., running back Carlton Djam, quarterback Seth Green, defensive back KiAnte Hardin, freshman defensive back Dior Johnson, defensive lineman Tamarion Johnson, junior running back Kob McCrary, defensive back Antonio Shenault, quarterback Mark Williams and freshman defensive back Antoine Winfield Jr. are the players suspended.

Buford Jr., Hardin, Dior Johnson and Tamarion Johnson were suspended for three games earlier in the season when their names came up in an alleged sexual assault investigation, but the players were not arrested and charges were not filed.

Minnesota is set to take on Washington State on Dec. 27 in the National Funding Holiday Bowl in San Diego.
