Motorist escapes serious injury in collision with horse


    The driver of a pickup truck that collided with a horse on U.S. Highway 62 near Cotter escaped injury Thursday night but traffic was slowed while emergency personnel cleaned up after the incident. Authorities said the horse was killed and the Dodge pickup truck driven by the motorist was totaled in the 9:31 p.m. accident.
    A number of law enforcement and other agencies responded to the scene of the accident at the Cotter water tower at the town's eastern city limits. The accident was investigated by the Cotter Police Department. Assisting at the scene were the Gassville Police Department, Cotter Fire Department and the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department.
    Authorities cleared the scene at 11:48 Thursday night.
