Mountain View’s eight-man football team is one win away from repeating as state champions. The Yellowjackets, who have never lost a game since transitioning to the eight-man game, dominated Cutter-Morning Star 56-6 in the semifinals of the Arkansas Eight-Man Club Division State Playoffs on Friday. Mountain View improves to 9-0 on the season, and they’ll host Corning for the state championship next week.
Marshall ended up playing a consolation playoff game in front of its home crowd. The Bobcats suffered a 44-36 loss to Fountain Lake. Marshall finishes the season at 1-9.
Izard County wrapped up its regular season on a rough note on Senior Night. The Cougars ended up losing to Brinkley 58-52. Izard County falls to 5-4 overall and 3-2 in the 2A/1A-North.
