A music duo featuring an area resident is being considered for a pair of Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy announced the first round ballots Monday, and Fires of October, featuring Scott Hoffmann of Harrison, are among the selections for Record of the Year and Best Pop Performance by Duo or Group.

Hoffmann and his partner Kristi Blankenship of Blue Eye, Missouri, recorded a cover to the Roy Orbison song “Crying,” and it was arranged, recorded and mixed in Arkansas. The basic tracks and vocals were recorded at Hoffmann’s studio, Subterra Music, in Harrison, and the violins, violas and cellos were recorded at the home studio of professional musician Tim Crouch in Strawberry. Crouch has been featured in songs from Alan Jackson, Rhonda Vincent and Vince Gill.

“Crying” by Fires of October is available on iTunes, Apple Music and Amazon.
