Capitol Music GroupNeil Diamond grew up Jewish, and never celebrated Christmas as a kid, but singing Christmas music is another story. His current album, Acoustic Christmas, which features his seasonal hit “The Christmas Medley,” is his fourth collection of holiday music. And as the legendary singer tells Rolling Stone, “There’s no stopping in sight.”

Diamond tells the publication that he enjoyed performing Christmas songs in high school chorus, noting, “It started me on my Christmas kick.” He adds that he’s taken to Christmas music “with a vengeance,” noting, “This is my fourth Christmas album and there’s no stopping in sight. Next time I get a chance, I’ll do it again.”

As for why Acoustic Christmas is doing well this season, Neil tells ABC Radio, “Well, this particular album, people wanna get up close to it, they wanna let it wash over them, it’s a very friendly, warm album.”

He adds, “It’s acoustic and right away, you know it’s friendly.”

As for how he’ll celebrate the holidays, Diamond doesn’t say if he’ll be celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah, but he notes, “I’ll be with my family and we’ll be together and we’ll be having a good time.”

Diamond will kick off a massive 50th anniversary tour starting April 7 in Fresno, California.
