Authorities say a St. Louis County police officer has fatally shot a masked carjacking suspect who pointed a gun at the officer.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the shooting happened Monday night after a chase that started with an officer spotting a car seized in a carjacking.

St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar and St. Louis Police Capt. Mary Wernicke said that when the fleeing car stopped, a passenger hopped out and pointed a gun. The officer then fired. The name of the suspect who was killed wasn’t immediately released.

Police are looking for at least two others who were in the car and fled. Police also say two officers were involved in a crash while headed to the pursuit but that no one was seriously hurt.
