The Peel Ferry in Marion County has been added to a proposed amendment to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department’s (AHTD) Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for federal fiscal years 2016-2020. The amendment is now available for public comment.

The Peel Ferry is the last public ferryboat operating in the state and transports vehicles and passengers across a section of Bull Shoals Lake.

Improvement projects to the Peel Ferry on State Highway 125 would utilize 80 percent federal aid Ferry Boat Program funds and 20 percent matching state funds.

The public is invited to review and comment on the contents of the proposed amendment by August 3.

The amendment may be reviewed at the AHTD’s Central Office, the State Clearinghouse, or the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District Office in Harrison.

For more information or to request a copy of this proposed amendment by mail, contact AHTD’s Program Management Division at (501) 569-2262.

All comments regarding this proposed STIP amendment should be submitted in writing to Program Management Division, Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, P.O. Box 2261, Little Rock 72203.
