PINEVILLE, Mo. (AP) – The Harry S. Truman Coordinating Council and the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission will be meeting to discuss a proposal to connect Jane and Pineville to the Northwest Arkansas trail.

The Joplin Globe reports the meeting is expected to take place March 6.

The Razorback Greenway trail is 37 miles long and connects to destinations

such as the University of Arkansas, malls and shopping centers, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, as well as headquarters for major employers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

It currently ends at Lake Bella Vista, but expansion plans include extending the trail about 8 miles north to the state line.

Gregg Sweeten, mayor of Pineville, says connecting the trail to Jane and Pineville would be a strong economic boost for the city and McDonald County.
