A rural Mountain Home man, 47 year old John Leroy Lewis, has been arrested on felony drug charges, according to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery. The sheriff says Lewis is being held is charged with two counts each of delivery of methamphetamine and unlawful use of a communication device. The charges care the enhanced penalty for being in proximity to certain facilities. Lewis is being held in the Baxter County jail with bond set at $25,000.
The sheriff says an individual cooperating with his department made controlled purchases of meth from Lewis over a period of several days. The transactions were monitored by sheriff's investigators and agents from the 14th Judicial Drug task Force. Lewis also used a cell phone to facilitate the transactions which took place within 1000 feet of a church.
