Sales tax numbers continue to rise in BXCO and City of Mtn. Home

     Sales tax numbers for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home continue on the upswing according to numbers provided by the state Department of Finance and Administration.

     Baxter County Treasurer Janey Mize says the numbers released in October, which covers spending in August, show a increase in county sales tax revenue for the same month as well as year to date compared to last year.

     The county sales tax is divided among the county and the eight municipalities, with Mountain Home leading the way with $171,107. Gassville collected $28,564, while Cotter picked up $13,333, Lakeview took in $10,186, Norfork received $7,024, Salesville collected $6,186, the City of Briarcliff netted $3,244 and Big Flat received $1,430.

     City of Mountain Home Treasurer Deborah Cotter says the city also saw sales tax numbers continue on the plus side of 1.9 percent.

     The City of Mountain Home for the past 10 months of the year, five months saw a decrease and a five month increase in sales tax numbers over last year. Overall, the City of Mountain Home is up over $83,000 or 2.9 percent over 2015.
