The Serenity Donation Center, which helps fund the local women's and children's shelter, has opened at a new location. The Center opened last week in the College Plaza Shopping Center on Highway 62 East in Mountain Home.
Serenity offers counseling, advocacy and shelter to women and children experiencing domestic violence. The organization relies on a variety of funding sources to support its operations. According to Serenity Financial Director Joyce Rhoads, $15,000 was raised from sales at the donation center last year. The donation center serves a dual purpose. First, items received at the donation center are given to clients as they are setting up new homes after leaving the shelter. The money raised at the donation center goes to support Serenity programs.
Serenity Donation Center Manager Gina Gatewood discusses the hours of operation and items accepted.
