The latest news from Mountain Home Public Schools Athletic Director Janet Wood.

From the AD 9-22-14

Kyle Garretson and Trent Randall won the Gold Division in the men's doubles in the 5th Annual Frank Miller Memorial Bomber Smash.  Randy Godwin and CJ Blackmon won the Blue Division.  For the women, Mylet Trotter and Emily Heide won the Gold Division and Deanna Garretson teamed with Maysa Fouts to take the Blue Division.  We appreciate all tennis players who participated and helped raise over $500 for the Bomber Booster Club and the tennis teams.

Cortni Thomas continued her unbeaten streak in tennis defeating the number one players from Jonesboro and Searcy.  Jaden McClellan dropped his first match of the year against the number one player from Jonesboro.    Both teams will travel to Marion tomorrow and to Harrison on Thursday.

Both cross country teams continue to set personal bests and hope to peak at the state tournament which is November 8 in Hot Springs.

Both golf teams picked up wins at Turkey Mountain against Izard County Consolidated.  The girls will participate in the 6A State Meet next Monday and Tuesday at Greystone in Cabot.  Good luck to Coach Brad Morris and the girls' golf team.

The Lady Bomber volleyball team split their conference matches beating Little Rock Central but losing to Cabot.  We will travel to Jonesboro tomorrow to take on the Lady Hurricanes, one of the top teams in the state in all classifications.  This Thursday we will host a very good North Little Rock team.  Junior varsity action starts at 4:30 and varsity will start about 5:30.

The Nettleton Raiders had too much fire power for the Bombers.  They are a very good football team and should do well in their conference and state play-offs.  We will host Jonesboro this Friday night.  Jonesboro is ranked in the top 10 overall and number 4 in Class 6A.  It will be a tough contest for the Bombers.  Kick off is set for 7:00.  (all conference games have a 7:00 kick-off).

This Wednesday is the final day to purchase tickets for the Hayden Padgett Memorial Blue and Gold Gala.  The Gala will be held at Big Creek Golf and Country Club on Saturday, October 4.  Tickets are $100 each and seating is limited.  This is a great opportunity to attend a formal occasion that should prove to be a very fun event as well.  The evening includes hors d'oeuvres, complimentary wine, dinner, music, and dancing to DJ T-Daddy.  The Hayden Padgett Press Box committee will offer many great auction items.  New this year is a Black Jack tournament.  If you have not already sent in your rsvp and since Wednesday is the last day to purchase, you may call the athletic office at 870-425-1285 to confirm your attendance.  All proceeds go toward the construction of the Hayden Padgett Memorial Press Box which is intended to memorialize not only Hayden but all Bombers who have left us too soon.

The Bomber Booster Club will meet at 11:30 today at Western Sizzlin.  See you there.

Go Bombers,
Janet Wood, AD
