BMGA new vinyl box set featuring mono versions of all of the albums The Kinks issued in the U.K. during the 1960s will be released on December 16. The Kinks — The Mono Collection includes the band’s first eight albums, spanning from the band’s 1964 debut, Kinks, through 1969’s Arthur or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire, as well as the 1970 two-LP compilation The Kinks, also known as “The Black Album.”
Other albums included in the box set are such critically acclaimed discs as 1966’s Face to Face and 1968’s The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society. The collection also contains the previously out-of-print mono version of the 1967 album Live at Kelvin Hall. All of the discs will be pressed on high-quality 180-gram vinyl.
The Mono Collection comes packaged with a 48-page hardcover book containing rare photos and new interview with the group’s three surviving members — frontman Ray Davies, guitarist Dave Davies and drummer Mick Avory. Among the many classic songs appearing in the box set are “You Really Got Me,” “Tired of Waiting for You,” “All Day and All of the Night,” “Dedicated Follower of Fashion,” “Till the End of the Day,” “A Well Respected Man,” “Sunny Afternoon,” “Waterloo Sunset” and “Victoria.”
