The wide receiver notified the Tennessee Titans Monday morning that he intends to retire, the team said.

“Going back to his days at the University of Miami, Andre was one of the most impressive wide receivers I’ve scouted,” Titans General Manager Jon Robinson said in a statement. “He had a professional approach to the game both on and off the field and in my opinion is one of the best to have played the game.”

“I enjoyed getting to know and work with him in his time with our team,” Robinson continued, adding, “We wish him nothing but the best moving forward in whatever endeavors he chooses.”

Johnson, 35, came to the Titans this past July. Before then, he played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans, which chose him in the first round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

The seven-time Pro Bowler will end his career with 1,062 receptions, 14,185 receiving yards and 70 touchdowns.
