Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims says 37-year-old Thong Vang, who was paroled in 2014 after serving 16 years in prison, walked into the lobby and shot officers Juanita Davis and Toa Scanlun after being told to wait in line.

Officers then shot at Vang, who suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Davis and Scanlun were shot in the head and neck by what police believe was just one shot. Davis is listed in critical but stable condition.

Vang was convicted in 1998 in the rape of 3 young girls and was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
