Phil Ellsworth/ESPN(CHICAGO) — The Chicago White Sox are not expected to retain manager Robin Ventura. According to reports, bench coach Rick Renteria will replace.
Renteria is familiar with managing in Chicago. He served as the Cubs manager in 2014, finishing 73-85. He was fired after one season.
Ventura managed the White Sox for five seasons, never making a postseason appearance. He won 85 games in his first year with the club, finishing third in the American League Manager of the Year voting, but failed to post a winning record in any of the following seasons.
The 49-year-old Ventura has a long history with the White Sox, spending the first ten years of his playing career with the franchise. He then accepted his first career Major League managing job with the club after the 2011 season.
