Years in radio:
20 total. 2 years at KTTS in Springfield. 18 years at KTLO.
Most memorable moment on air:
I was broadcasting a basketball game at
Newport and my equipment was set up at the end of the court. Mountain Home
was down by two points working for the final shot of the game to win it.
The players on the Bombers bench stood up and I couldn't see. Just as
Mountain Home shot a three pointer at the buzzer, I had to stand up to see
over the players and when I did, I kicked the phone line, pulling it out of
the wall and broke it beyond repair. The shot went in, giving the Bombers
the win, but the folks back home didn't know the outcome until the next morning.
Best blooper:
There's plenty I can't put on a website where kids might read
it or the F.C.C. finds out it was me that did it!
Other non-radio jobs I've had:
Bowling alley (nothing better than handling smelly shoes all night!) and car hopped at a burger joint.
My first interest in radio:
I always listened to the radio, went to sleep with
it under my pillow almost every night growing up. Had a D.J. from a local station speak to my class during career day at school and that helped me
decide to be a poor man the rest of my life. If I knew what happened to
that guy, I would hunt him down!
If I weren't in radio, I would be:
I'd probably be a professional hot dog eater and
travel the country entering those hot dog eating contests.
In my life, I am most proud of:
My family.
