Halloween causes Humane Society to put black cat adoptions on hold

Anyone wanting to adopt a black cat from the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas in Mountain Home after Monday will have to wait until one week after Halloween to pick your new feline up. The Humane Society, as they have done for a number of years, is pausing adoptions of black cats due to the holiday.

Carolyn Carter is the shelter manager of the local Humane Society. She says it’s out of safety for the cats they do this.

Anyone who adopts a black cat from the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas between Tuesday and Nov. 6 will be able to visit the cat at the shelter and then take it home on Nov. 7.
