A motorhome in Clarkridge caught fire during the weekend. The motorhome on Pigeon Creek Trailhead belonged to Tony Gleghorn of Corning.

According to a Baxter County Sheriff’s incident report, a deputy responded to the fire Saturday morning and observed the motorhome fully engulfed. Clarkridge Fire Department personnel later arrived on the scene to fight the fire. A sheriff’s investigator was also notified of the fire, and a ranger from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also arrived on the scene. At the time, the owner of the motorhome could not be located.

The deputy found the vehicle identification number on the chassis, and the owner’s name was found. Fire personnel cleared the scene, and the deputy and ranger were getting ready to leave the scene in an attempt to make contact with the owner when an adult male, identified as Gleghorn, came walking out from the trail. He told authorities he spent the night there and went to Mountain Home for breakfast around 5:00.

It was unknown how the fire began. Gleghorn says he shut off the main breaker to keep the electricity off. The ranger gave him a ride to Mountain Home to wait for his wife to come get him. Carter and Sons Service Center towed the remains of the motorhome to their location for the insurance company to investigate it.

No foul play was suspected at the time of the report. The motorhome’s value is estimated at $50,000.
