In a report released Tuesday, the Marion County Sheriff's Office said it received a call over the weekend from a concerned individual who said Kyle Riggs claimed he had choked his father to death and would be waiting for officers at the Fairview Cemetery.
After the call, 13 law enforcement officers responded to what was portrayed by Riggs to be a possible murder. Riggs was not at the cemetery when officers arrived, but rather at his residence where they discovered a large hunting knife and a used syringe in his possession. Officers then located Riggs' father, who was asleep but safe. According to a report from the sheriff's office, Riggs' father said he had been dealing with his son all day and the son had been talking crazy and threatened to kill his father with a chopping ax. Kyle Riggs admitted to officers he had been using meth excessively the past few days and wanted officers to kill him.
He was taken into custody without incident and was arrested for communicating a false alarm and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $20,000 and is scheduled to appear before the Marion County Circuit Court on September 25.
