Man arrested at court complex after attempted urine swap

A Midway man was arrested at the Baxter County Court Complex after he attempted to substitute bottled urine for his own during a court-ordered drug screen.
According to Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery, 36 year old Shawn Austin was appearing before Circuit Judge Shawn Womack on a contempt of court proceeding. As a part of the proceeding, Austin was ordered to submit a urinalysis drug screen test while at the court complex. A probation officer, who was assigned to escort Austin to the restroom, discovered he had concealed a plastic container of urine which was duct-taped to his scrotum.
The Court Bailiff, Deputy David Estes, was summoned to assist. Estes arrested Austin for obstructing governmental operations after the completion of the court proceeding. Austin was transported to the detention center for booking and was released after posting $240 bond. According to the sheriff, Austin will appear in district court on October 13.
