Three injured in two vehicle accident in Gamaliel

Three people were injured in a head on collision that blocked all lanes of traffic on U. S. Highway 101 for over an hour early Tuesday afternoon.   Corporal Britt Clements of the Arkansas State Police says the drivers of the vehicles, 19 year old Preston I. Helmke of Yellville and 69 year old Norma Risley of Mountain Home and a passenger in Risley's car, 69 year old Dennis Driskell, were transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment.   A hospital spokesman says Dennis Driskell is a patient at the hospital and Preston I. Helmke and Norma Risley are not patients.
The accident shortly before noon occurred when Helmke, in a Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling north on Highway 101 and crossed the center line striking the Lincoln Town Car driven by Risley head-on.
Charges against Preston I. Helmke are pending in the 11:48 a.m. accident.
