It was another busy night of high school basketball as the Arvest Bank Tournament continued in Flippin.
Cotter's boys were able to defeat Viola in the consolation bracket by a final of 51-40. Dakota Dwyer led the Warriors with 16 points, including 12 from behind the arc, and Donovan Fennell added 11 points. Cotter improves to 2-6 on the season.
Also in the boys' consolation bracket, Lead Hill fell to Alpena 67-63.
Cotter did not fare as well in girls' consolation action as the lost to Viola 74-26. The Lady Warriors drop to 1-11 on the year.
In the other consolation girls' game, Norfork was edged out by Deer 56-55.
Flippin's boys needed overtime in the championship bracket, but they were able to squeak by Izard County 46-45. The Bobcats were led by Spencer Politte with 18 points, and Josh Rogers chipped in 12.
In the other boys' game in the new gym, Western Grove topped Kingston 59-40.
Flippin's girls also won their winners bracket game 48-35 over Jasper. Hannah Davis was the Lady Bobcats' leading scorer with 13 points, Meagan Loucks had 12, and Kaylee Wood added 11. Flippin remains undefeated in eight games on the season.
Also in the girls' championship bracket, Lead Hill fell to Western Grove 51-43.
The Mountain Home junior high teams had mixed results as they played in the consolation bracket of the Centennial Bank Junior High Preseason Basketball Tournament at Beebe.
The Junior Lady Bombers were able to beat Little Rock Christian 45-42. Hannah Pfeifer and Olivia O'Brien led Mountain Home with 11 points each, and Vanessa Daniel scored ten. The Junior Lady Bombers will move on to the consolation finals Thursday at 4:30.
It was a different result on the boys' side. Mountain Home was eliminated by Searcy 31-28.
