Local youth win ELKS Hoop Shoot

The Mountain Home ELKS Lodge #1714 recently held its Hoop Shoot district free throw contest at Mountain Home High School.
In girls' results, Flippin's Allie Downs won among the eight and nine year olds, and Kelsey Humphries of Gainesville took second place. The top two in the ten and 11 age group were from Mountain Home as Addison Yates took the crown, and Lauren Loving was the runner-up. In the 12 and 13 year old division, Hannah Pfeifer of Mountain Home ended up the winner, and Julia Grant of Caulfield was second.
On the boys' side, Noble's Ethan Donley was the top shooter in the eight and nine age group, and Jake Leeker of Gainesville wound up second. Mountain Home's Dodge Harris was the winner among the ten and 11 year olds, and Tate McKee of Tecumseh took home the second place trophy. Two Flippin residents were the tops of the 12 and 13 year old division as Jackson Baker won the event, and Clayton McManness finished second.
The six district champions will advance to the state finals Saturday in Hot Springs with a chance to go to the regional contest a month later in Paris, Tennessee.
