MH mother prepares to watch her daughter compete in Sochi Wednesday night

A Mountain Home mother, Jennifer James, will be on pins and needles Wednesday night as she prepares to watch her daughter, Jackie Wiles, compete in the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Jacqueline "Jackie" Wiles grew up in Portland, Oregon where her mother said she participated in all sports, but chose skiing because of her love of the speed and the beauty of the mountains. Like most skiers, Wiles' career goal has been to be in the Olympics, according to James.

It's a good thing Wiles chose skiing over the plethora of other sports she played growing up because Wednesday night at 7:00 on NBC she will compete in the women's downhill competition, which James says is her daughter's strength.

James said she has been getting calls from her daughter on a daily basis because of a phone provided to her by the U.S. Ski Team.

Fortunately through FIS, Federal International Ski Racing, James will be able to watch her daughter compete live instead of having to watch the delayed race several hours later on NBC. She says she will still watch the delayed showing of the races, but she will already know the outcome.
Again, the women's downhill will be Wednesday night at 7 on NBC and the women's super G, which will also feature Wiles, will be Saturday night at 7. It will be on NBC, as well.
