Wahler sentenced to 5 years for sexual assault

Thirty-six year old Jace Wahler of Mountain Home faces five years in the Arkansas Department of Correction after he entered a no contest plea to sexual assault in the second degree in Baxter County Circuit Court Tuesday morning. Wahler was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge John Putman for the Class B felony offense.
Wahler was charged with sexual assault in late 2012 after being accused of engaging in sexual relations with a woman who had been out drinking with Wahler and others. According to investigative reports, after returning to Wahler's house from a local bar, the woman went to a bedroom and reportedly passed out. She woke up at one point and reported that Wahler was having sex with her. The incident, which occurred January 16, 2012, was investigated by the Arkansas State Police and the Mountain Home Police Department.
Wahler was represented in the case by attorney Justin Downum of Mountain Home.
