Canda Reese has announced she is running for re-election as Baxter County and Circuit Clerk. A Republican, Reese is in her first term in the office. She says she is grateful for the support she has received and would like the opportunity to continue to serve the citizens of Baxter County.
Late last year Reese applied for and received a $34,500 grant from the Arkansas Circuit Clerk's Association for scanning and indexing land records currently stored on microfilm. The new system will allow digital access to land records back to 1981. Reese is currently in the process of applying for a grant from the Arkansas Secretary of State's Office to maintain and update voting system equipment.
The clerk's office recently went live on Contexte, the administrative office of the courts' court case management program, a software system providing online public access to information on current court cases filed in Baxter County.
Reese says learning about the responsibilities of the clerk's office has been exciting and challenging. She credits the open minds and willingness of the staff in the clerk's office throughout the changes she has brought to the office.
Reese has a Masters Degree in Administration and Bachelor's Degrees in psychology and criminal justice. Prior to her election as Baxter County Clerk, Reese was the executive director of Gamma House. She and her husband, Tony, have two children and have been Baxter County residents since 1991.
