Death of Taney County man ruled drowning

The death of a Berryville man whose body was found in Taney County by Baxter County searchers has been ruled a drowning, according to a report from KY3 television. The body of 28-year old Gary Slater was found in Beaver Creek Thursday afternoon. His body was found by Lieutenant Rick Lucy and helicopter pilot Benny Magness of the Baxter County Sheriff's Department after Taney County requested search assistance from the department's helicopter.
Authorities say Slater was reported missing from the Kissee Mills area of Taney County after he wandered away from a party on Wednesday night. Slater was intoxicated at the time, according to information witnesses told authorities.
Lieutenant Lucy and Magness first spotted Slater's hooded sweathshirt about a mile from where he was last seen and then located his body in the creek.
