Tovar acting Bull Shoals police chief

The city of Bull Shoals has a new police chief after the city's previous chief, Daniel Sutterfield was placed on administrative leave.  Bull Shoals Mayor Bruce Powell says he notified city council members Tuesday of the action.
Earlier this month Sutterfield was arrested on federal charges of using excessive force and falsifying a report in a July 2014 arrest involving a domestic disturbance.
Sutterfield had remained working in a limited capacity prior to Tuesday.   When asked if Sutterfield was on paid leave, Powell said he is being paid through workman's compensation due to an injury sustained during the July arrest.
Powell says Officer Michael Tovar was named acting police chief.

Powell said if Sutterfield is found innocent, he would reinstate him as police chief.
Terms of Sutterfield's release from jail were that he reside with Mayor Powell, who confirmed Sutterfield is still living with him.
Daniel Sutterfield's next court appearance is May 6.
