Rural Mtn. Home man in critical condition after falling into burning brush fire

A rural Mountain Home man is in critical condition in the burn unit of a Springfield hospital after a brush fire accident at his home Friday afternoon.   Seventy-eight year old Paul Stewart of 35 Sequoyah was burning leaves in his yard when he fell into the fire, according to Sgt. Mike Holland of the Baxter County Sheriff's Department.   He was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center and later flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield by Air Evac.   A spokesperson from the hospital's burn unit confirmed Stewart is a patient there in critical condition.
Sgt. Holland says Stewart's wife called 911 about 1:40 p.m. when she looked out of their home and saw her husband lying in the yard in flames.   The Mountain Home Fire Department and Mountain Home Rural Fire Department responded to the scene and quickly brought the fire under control, according to Holland.
