Fire destorys barn near White River

Fire destroyed a large barn located near the White River at 133 Buford Spur Place Wednesday afternoon. Buford Fire Chief Dave Merkle said the fire was started when a pickup truck that was next to the barn backfired.
Merkle said the barn, which he described as 40-feet-by-40 feet in size, was fully engulfed when members of the Buford Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after getting the call at 5:22 Wednesday afternoon. He said the wood and metal siding barn was destroyed.
     There were no injuries.
Merkle said a truck, two Seadoos and a quantity of tools inside the barn were also destroyed. No estimate of damage was available.
Members of the Tracy Ferry and Mountain Home fire departments provided assistance.
