A woman apparently drowned at Brown's Beach on Bull Shoals Lake in Marion County Sunday afternoon. A witness who was at the scene told KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News the incident occurred about 5:30 Sunday afternoon at the popular swim area in Bull Shoals.
Initial reports indicated the woman had a small child on her back when she got into trouble. The child--estimated at 4 to 5 years old--somehow made it to safety but initial reports were unclear as to how. Authorities were attempting to determine the identity of the woman and child.
The incident is being investigated by the Marion County Sheriff's Department, according to a sheriff's department dispatcher.
Members of the Baxter County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene. The woman was transported by boat to a ramp on the Baxter County side of the lake where an Air Evac life team helicopter was waiting.
