Workshop on prescribed burns offered at Harrison

    A series of workshops to teach landowners the basics of conducting prescribed burns is being offered by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and one is offered in Harrison. The workshop is a two part class. The one in Harrison includes a three hour classroom instruction on Tuesday, August 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the J. Smith Henley Federal Bui9lding at 402 North Walnut Street.
    The workshop is free and includes dinner provided by Arkansas Forestry Association. Seating is limited to 35 and attendees must RSVP up to seven days prior to the class to ensure a meal is provided.
    The classroom session will teach the basics of prescribed fires and whether you should do it yourself or hire someone to do it. The second part of the workshop is a prescribed burn demo to be held on a Saturday in September. In order to go to the burn demo, participants must have first attended the classroom session.
