Suspect escapes from patrol car, still at large

The Baxter County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for a woman they say escaped from custody in the area near Whiteville on Saturday.
According to Sheriff's office reports, 42 year old Brandi Vanamberg was arrested at around 1 p.m. Saturday on several outstanding warrants including felony revocation of a suspended sentence and contempt of court. The arresting deputy handcuffed Vanamberg and placed her in the back of a patrol car. The suspect told the deputy that she had some personal property stored underneath the bridge over a nearby creek and asked him to retrieve it for her. The deputy agreed to do so and walked under the bridge to locate the items. While he did so, Vanamberg was able to roll down the back window of the patrol car and climb out, still in cuffs. Deputies believe she entered a wooded area to the West of the roadway.
Several deputies and officers from other agencies responded to the area in an attempt to re-locate the suspect. After searching for some time, a witness who lived nearby told deputies that he had seen a woman matching Vanamberg's description emerge from the woods and climb on the back of a motorcycle that had stopped to pick her up. The motorcycle then went north on Highway 126.
Brandi Vanamberg is described as a white female, approximately 5' 5" tall, approximately 125 pounds, with dark hair. She was last seen wearing denim shorts, white t-shirt and grey tennis shoes. Vanamberg is believed to be under the influence of controlled substances, but is not known to pose a danger to anyone else.
The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information as to Brandi Vanamberg's whereabouts to call the Crime Tip Hotline at 870-424-4636.
